EP Review: Hora Douse – Crash

Hora Douse is an alternative punk rock trio currently located in Manchester, England originally from the neighbouring city of Leeds. Band members including Tom Lee, Jonny Russell and Reece Gibson. Adding elements of punk, indie, post-hardcore and emo, they have already created a buzz in the underground scene for their energetic live performances. Releasing their new EP Crash via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify, Hora Douse is an up and coming band that you may well want to be keeping your eye on.

Title track and opener “Crash” ticks all the boxes as to why the band are gaining a lot of well-deserved attention. It’s catchy, melodic and without a doubt, addictive, a straight-up alternative rock anthem putting other bands to shame. The following track “Bored” introduces a more hardcore punk sound with fast upbeat drums and crunching guitar riffs, a raw and energetic track that’s destined to become a fan favourite for live shows. “Speak” closes the  EP on a mesmerising high by shifting the mood into a more calmer place before blissfully exploding, another excellently well-crafted track that shows the diversity the band are capable of.

Some EPs leave you wanting more and this is definitely one of them, running at just over seven minutes, it all seems to be over so fast. That is a compliment though and not to be taken as any form of criticism, every second of Crash is enjoyable and it leaves me wanting a little bit more. Hora Douse is a band to watch and my fingers are tightly crossed for a full-length album release.
