Looking back at 2014… with Laughing in the Face Of

We had a chat with Steve (vocals/guitar) from Birmingham’s melodic hardcore Laughing in the Face Of about the band’s 2014! This is ahead of our show with the band, as well as Guerrilla Monsoon, Mixtape Saints and The Real Quaid in Birmingham this Thursday!

How was 2014 for you?

It’s been pretty a good year for making progress on writing stuff towards a new album. We’ve not been mega busy with gigs, but have played some ace lineups and got some new songs which we’re enjoying.

What was the best/most memorable show you played?

I think the weekender with No Contest should be mentioned. We played in Wigan and then Liverpool one weekend with them and it turned out to be more of a four-band weekender. Dead Neck and The Bob Hoskins Experience played both gigs too which was ace! The Liverpool gig was at Maguires Pizza Bar which is always a bonus because they make some seriously tasty pizza out the front and have a gig room at the back. We’ve been part of some sweet gigs here and there, just no tours as such this year.

What was the best show you went to?

For me, I reckon the Ten Foot Pole gig I went to in Belgium in September. Went on a bit of a road trip with some mates to see them. Antillectual were their main support too which was good. TFP are one of my all time favourite bands going way back to when I was a teenager so it was awesome to be there.

What are some of your favourite releases this year?

Lagwagon’s Hang for definite. Such a good album and another one of my favourite bands. Also, off the top of my head – the first EP by Deadneck, and new EPs from Darko and Fair Do’s. Check ’em out if you haven’t already.

What are you excited for in 2015?

Going to more gigs, playing more gigs and hopefully some touring, getting stuff finished for the new album and then recording the hell out of it! In no particular order. On a side note, it’s pretty exciting that Frenzal Rhomb are playing in Europe in the Spring. Got to make sure I can head over, don’t want to miss that!
