Looking back at 2014… with Laura Stevenson

Laura Stevenson looks back at her year with Seeing Your Scene!

How was 2014 for you?

It was good. Let me see. We toured with Against Me! and Tim Kasher. I don’t even know what else we did. It was good though. I got my masters.

Oh yeah, what was that in?

Art history. It’s fun to delve. You learn everything in broad outline in grade school. Then you get to delve right into it.

What was the most memorable show you played?

We played in Seattle. I forget the name of the place. It was something like Poseidon’s. Or King Trident. There were a bunch of like aquatic figures carved into the woodwork and we played there with Against Me! and I sang on “Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart” on the Tegan part. That was pretty much my most memorable thing. That was awesome. It was crazy. I’ve never felt so excited to be standing on stage. I did crazy dances. It was so good.

Have you got any favourite releases that came out this year?

What came out this year? I don’t even know. Antartigo Vespucci. There you go. Those two records. What else do you need to say? Cheap Girls. I didn’t put anything out so it wasn’t a good year [laughter].

What are your plans for the new year?

I’m going home, then touring with Into It. Over It. and Kevin Devine for like two and a half weeks. Then I’m gonna be working on the new record and then finding someone to make it. Then making it. Then touring on it.
